Sharing A Sweet Treat

Last week we attended the funeral of Marie Wiegel, a close friend of Mike's mother. I had hoped to get a family picture as we were not only all dressed up, but color coordinated. The first picture is the only picture I took and it is of the kids having a sweet treat before the funeral. The message at the funeral was focused on teachers as Marie was one herself. Father Tom commented on October as being the month of apples and how apples are symbolic for teachers. He placed on her coffin an apple for each school where she had taught.

At church today they were handing out roses to everyone after the service. So, because Marie had requested only a single rose be placed on her casket, we decided after church to visit her burial site and the children placed a single rose on it. Note the cross made from the apples; a very nice touch by Hartquist Funeral Home.
